While UK farmers are among the best in the world, farming remains one of our country’s most hazardous industries; accounting for 1.5% of workers but 15-20% of all worker fatalities (HSE).
29 farm workers lost their lives in the workplace in 2017/2018 according to the latest HSE Fatal Injuries in Agriculture report. This may be less than the five year average of however the fact remains that over the past year 29 families and farming communities have been mourning the loss of a loved one and this needs to stop.

We’re the Farm Safety Foundation, an award-winning charity and we’re dedicated to raising awareness of farm safety among young farmers.
As a mutual insurer that has cared about the countryside, farmers and their families for over a century, NFU Mutual took the decision in 2014 to establish an independent charity, The Farm Safety Foundation, to help young farmers challenge their behaviours and change their attitude to farm safety.
Over the past year the Farm Safety Foundation has been nationally recognised for the ground-breaking work they are doing within the industry and has been awarded a Chartered Institute of Public Relations Award (CIPR) and the prestigious Business in the Community Samworth Brothers Rural Action Award.
